The internet has been a huge catalyst for the discussion revolving around intellectual property rights. But with with the rise in privitization and media monopolies, streaming services preventing people from owning media, and the lack of compensation for creators and artists - there's been the rise in piracy. There are various stances on whether or not piracy itself is ethical, but ethical piracy is the belief that piracy that follows a code of conduct can in fact be a more ethical practice to legal consumption of media.
